Platform FAQ
Platform FAQ
Following and Connections
How do I follow someone? Visit their profile and click the Follow button. Their posts will appear in your feed. You can follow anyone whose profile is public, or send a follow request if their profile is private.
What is an Outer Reach? An Outer Reach is a mutual connection — like a friendship request. Both users must accept before the connection is established. Outer Reach connections share more information with each other than standard follows.
What are Signals? Signals are lightweight reactions to posts — a way to acknowledge something without leaving a full comment. Think of them as a more nuanced version of likes.
Groups and Community
How do groups work? Groups are community spaces organised around a shared identity, interest, or topic. You can join public groups freely or request to join private ones. Groups have their own post feeds, member lists, and (optionally) moderators.
What is Nebula? Nebula is a community reputation system. As you participate — posting, commenting, receiving Signals, building connections — you earn standing in the community. Nebula is not a scoring system or leaderboard; it is a reflection of your presence here over time.
Can I use the platform without a kintype? Yes. Having a kintype listed is optional. You can participate fully without identifying any kintype at all.
Account and Privacy
Who can see my posts? That depends on the visibility you set. Posts can be public (visible to everyone), followers-only, Outer Reach only, or private.
How do I report a problem? Use the report button on the content in question. Our moderation team reviews all reports. For urgent concerns, you can also contact us directly.
