Something I have noticed, from outsiders and not "other" persay is that If you say you are elven/fae etc then they make Tolkien as a Reference point. They don't know how to "feel out" being other, or an energy form, regardless of which you identify as.
So they seek to I.d. it with a culture form, that being Tolkien, that is "Your world is like LOTR to me" when it isn't at all, it is spectacular to them as Tolkien is to grand effects with mythos or recreated mythos, when to us it's just "normal living".
For instance, being Vampiric, I tend to wear allot of Tunics. Tunic sweaters, Tunic tshirts, the flannel tunics and so on, I do this because it helps me to be in something vampire like, fae like, and elven like, because it looks like something a nomadic elven princess may wear or warrior queen. I have some of this n my past lives, and its comfortable and it accents my character. But when people see me who judge, like earlier someone said to me "You took off one cape and put on another, wow." O.o I was wearing my long trench today because it was cold and well since I don't wear makeup, I am just "trying to be goth" lol No, I am attempting to be comfortable. Just like he was apparently. I had gotten one of my tunics in the mail from amazon and put it on. It's asymmetrical on the sides, it's carried by Annflat on amazon.com. It feels like to me elegant dress for my kin type, or my Self. I i.d. my energy form as my Self, rather than "myself".
They can not feel out other energy, so don't have anything to compare it with, for instance you could tell people, forget pop cultures, being other is like looking at a grape, and then looking at a chunk of pineapple. They are both fruits, but one is a berry. If you are at odds with being other, then it's like looking at a grape, feeling like a raisin, and then looking at a chunk of pineapple. You technically still are a grape, even if you are a raisin.
If you are not at odds with being other, then you are a grape, even if still a raisin, and everyone else is a chunk of pineapple.
I will. I am pretty grounded in my spirituality and myself as my Self. So if you want to ask me some questions feel free. I am 40 years of age, give or take some.
